We are soon to start the 2011 season which represents the 75th Anniversary of the official formation of Potterne Cricket Club. To mark this special occasion the Club has orgnaised a Cricket Week with the following timetable. To download a PDF of the weeks events please click here.

• Sunday 10th July - Youth Tournament   Sponsored by Falcon Interiors

We have invited Bishops Cannings,Burbage and Goatacre Cricket Clubs to join us in a youth cricket festival where the clubs will play each other at each age group; i.e. six matches in total - Boys U9s, U11s, U13s & U15s. The festival will run from 9.30am until approx 8pm. An ideal day out for the whole family, with side attractions such as a bouncy castle, face painting and skittles.

• Monday 11th July - Wiltshire Ladies v Trinidad & Tobago Ladies

The Grove will host a fixture between the Wiltshire Ladies side and a Trinidad & Tobago Ladies XI which includes a number of players from the West Indies Ladies test side.

• Tuesday 12th July - Chairman's XI v Potterne CC

Chairman Ian Wheeler will invite a special team consisting of county players and former players from Potterne CC to take on a representative team from PCC, selected from across the senior teams within the club. The game will commence at 11am and finish at 7.30pm. In between each team will be entitled to two innings and it will be down to the captains to conjure up a competitive match. Lunch and tea will be taken in true Potterne tradition and both teams will come together after the match and share a beer or two and no doubt reminisce on performances long gone.

• Wednesday 13th July - Cricket Quiz sponsored by Moore of Devizes Ltd

General knowledge quizzes have always played a large part in the fund raising of the club. This time we will test the cricketing knowledge of club members and friends. Chairman Ian Wheeler will set a challenging quiz that will commence at 7.30pm and be held in the open air at the Grove. A bar and BBQ will refresh those parts that the quizmaster cannot reach. Separate prizes for the winning senior & junior members.

• Thursday 14th - Potterne CC X Factor   Sponsored by Renelec Ltd.

Your chance to showcase your vocal talents at a singing contest held in the 75th Anniversary marquee. Acts will perform on stage with live PA and specially invited judges will choose winners from 3 sections - Under 16s, Best Male & Best Female. Entries £5 to Fred Kerley (07970 974141) by July 1st. BBQ & Licensed Bar. 

• Friday 15th July - Club Gala Dinner

This will take place at The Grove, home of Potterne CC, a spectacular marquee will host 350 guests and the evening will be hosted by one of the best MC's in the business Mr Roger Dakin and our guest speaker will be former England & Kent captain Chris Cowdrey. After dinner entertainment will be provided by the Mark Butcher and the Extra Covers Band. Mark played for Surrey and England and is currently a Sky commentator and analyst, and a very skilful blues guitarist. An auction of cricketing memorabilia and other items will be held.

• Sunday 17th July - T20 PCA Masters XI v Potterne CC

The Professional Cricketers Association (PCA) has been the representative body of past and present first class cricketers in England & Wales since 1967. The Masters concept brings together stars from County & International cricket to play in showcase matches. The PCA Masters players list in 2010 included Darren Gough, Graeme Hick, Phil DeFreitas, Devon Malcolm, Ian Harvey & Stuart Law. The spectacular marquee will again be used to host a corporate lunch for 350 people and provide the opportunity to mingle with past and present proferssional cricketers. The PCA Masters will provide a coaching clinic for junior members of PCC. Tickets for the days entertainment are now available to buy individually for £45 or £400 for a table of 10. This includes lunch with the PCA Masters hosted by MC Roger Dakin, prime viewing areas for the match itself, a traditional PCC cricket tea and a matchday programme. 2011 Anniversary Ties We have produced these two stylish high quality ties to celebrate the 75th anniversary. They are available in traditional gold on blue, and an alternative blue on gold design, each sporting the club logo and 75th reference. Click on the ties to view a high resolution image. The ties are available individually at £14 each or one of each design for a discounted £25 from Ian Wheeler, or at one of the many events throughout the season.
